2dbug — Privacy Policy

2dbug collects nothing. Nothing you do in the extension is sent to us, stored on any server, or shared with anyone. Everything happens locally in your browser.

What 2dbug does

When you click "Capture bug" or "Auto-scan page," 2dbug reads information from the web page you are actively viewing — such as a screenshot, JavaScript console messages, failed network requests, and page metadata (URL, browser, screen size). It formats this into a bug report.

This report is:

Displayed to you in the extension popup
Copied to your clipboard when you choose
Downloaded to your device when you choose
Opened in an AI chat service (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or Copilot) only when you explicitly click to send it there

What 2dbug does NOT do

It does not require an account or sign-up.
It does not send your data to the developer (KJS) or any 2dbug server. There is no 2dbug server.
It does not track your browsing, your activity, or your usage.
It does not contain analytics, advertising, or third-party trackers.
It does not store your bug reports anywhere except where you choose to download or paste them.

Local storage

2dbug uses your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) only to remember your own preferences — such as your default AI provider and report settings. This data never leaves your device and is removed if you uninstall the extension.

Sending reports to AI services

When you choose to send a report to an AI service (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or Copilot), the extension opens that service in a new browser tab and places your report on your clipboard for you to paste. At that point, your interaction is governed by that service's privacy policy, not this one. 2dbug has no involvement in or visibility into that interaction — it simply opens the tab.

Permissions

2dbug requests only the permissions required to function:

activeTab / scripting / host access — to read the page and take a screenshot when you click capture
storage — to save your local preferences
clipboardWrite — to copy the report and screenshot for you to paste

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised date.
